1/72 Scale WWI (5)
A couple of 1/72 scale WWI aircraft builds - the "new tool" RoG Fokker Dr I, a very nice kit for a really great price and the Roden Albtros DIII OEF, a not bad kit for a not bad price. -
SE5a (11)
I built this SE5a on commission for a gentleman who collects military memorabilia. In this collector's case, he specializes in "groups" of belongings of individual servicemen. One such group he has is from a WWI US pilot named George Franklin "Tommy" Thomson. Tommy was flying a borrowed SE5a when he was shot down and subsequently held as a POW. This model represents, to the best of our knowledge, the aircraft Tommy was shot down in. -
Armored Fighting Suit (8)
This is an original Nitto release of one of the Armored Fighting Suits, the Heinrich if I remember right. I'm not really into the whole culture of these things...but trust me, they provide a really fun outlet and break from what many would consider more "normal" (whatever that means) modeling subjects. Try one...you'll like it! The base is mostly sheetrock left over from a remodeling project, and the I-beams are glued up strip stock. -
AIRCO DH 2 (4)
What can I say. It's a 1/32 DH 2. It's also a challenge to build. A lot of the detail is soft, and the Eduard set is almost a necessity, but, it's a 1/32 DH 2. The figure is the incredible Model Cellar Billy Bishop figure. No, I don't think he flew a DH 2, but he looks cool with the model. -
Canberra PR 9 (3)
Xtra Kit's limited run PR 9 isn't without it's construction challenges, but to me it looks better than the Airfix offering. -
M4A1 "Derby" (4)
This model is mostly a testament to Rob Ervin and his fantastic "Formations" line of resin conversions and accessories. The lower hull and wheels are Dragon, the bogies are AFV Club, the tracks are Panda Plastics, and the rest is pretty much Formations. Check the links section for a link to Rob and Formations! -
VMA-311 Harrier (4)
This is the Hasegawa kit with a lot of Eduard etch included. -
Spliced Corsair (4)
Tamiya's 1/72 F4U series of Corsairs are really gems. This model represents a salvaged airframe pieced together from two damaged planes. It was a fun project and is pretty unique in the display case.
